@Valid UPI Handles

SEBI's Validated UPI Framework

Enhanced Security for Taurus Corporate Advisory Services Limited (TCASL) Customers. Protecting Your Investments with Advanced UPI Verification.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched groundbreaking measures to protect investors from fraud and ensure secure digital payments in the securities market. TCASL is implementing these security protocols to safeguard your financial transactions.

What’s New: Validated UPI Framework

Starting October 1, 2025, SEBI mandates all registered intermediaries, including brokers like TCASL, to use validated UPI handles ending with @valid for investor-facing transactions. This step addresses fraudulent entities impersonating legitimate institutions.

Key Features of the New System
  • All legitimate UPI IDs end with @valid.
  • Standardized format for easy identification.
  • Bank verification required before issuing @valid handles.
How This Protects Customers
  • Impersonation Prevention: Fraudsters cannot create fake UPI IDs mimicking legitimate brokers.
  • Payment Routing Security: Ensures your money reaches only verified, SEBI-registered entities.
What Changes for You?

Nothing changes in your payment process. Simply log in to your TCASL Mobile/Web App, go to the Funds section, click Add Funds, and select UPI as the payment mode. You can verify the UPI handle format in your app during payment.

How to Verify Payment Authenticity
  1. Check the UPI Handle Format:
    • Ensure it ends with @validbank (e.g., @validhdfc, @validaxis).
    • Format examples: businessname.brk@validbank, businessname.dp@validbank, businessname.pms@validbank.
    • Example: taurus.brk@validhdfc
  2. Look for Visual Confirmation: Check for a green thumbs-up icon in your payment app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, etc.).
  3. Use SEBI Check Tool: Manually verify UPI IDs if you are in doubt.
Important Security Reminders
  • UPI IDs not ending with @valid(Bank Name).
  • Absence of green thumbs-up verification icon.
  • Misspelled merchant names or suspicious formatting.
  • Unsolicited payment requests via social media or email.
  • Pressure tactics urging immediate payment.
How to Stay Protected
  • Always Verify: Double-check UPI handles against the official list.
  • Look for Icons: Ensure the green verification triangle is visible.
  • Use Official Channels: Only initiate payments through TCASL official platform.
  • When in Doubt: Contact customer support for verification.
FAQs for Investors Is it compulsory to use the new handle?

Investors can choose their preferred payment mode. UPI payments to registered intermediaries must use the new UPI IDs.

What should I check while making payment using new UPI IDs/QR Code?
  • UPI ID shows intermediary name with correct category abbreviation before “@”.
  • “@valid” followed by the bank name after “@”.
  • Confirmation screen shows white thumbs-up icon inside green triangle.
  • QR code generated also shows white thumbs-up icon inside green triangle with UPI ID below.
Do investors need new UPI handles?

No, only intermediaries need new UPI IDs. Investors continue with existing UPI IDs.

Who to approach if payment fails?

Contact your respective bank in case of any technical difficulties. The validated UPI ID uses the same banking channels as earlier.
